Why Take Training?
Holding a leadership position at any level of Scouting can be a rewarding and challending experience. Having the correct training will not only make you more knoweldgeable and confident in your role, you'll also be provided with ample resources to make your program successful and less work for you. Scouting has been around for 100 years. You're not asked to reinvent the wheel... using some of the tried and true activity plans to develop your program will save you hours of time.

There are other reasons training is necessary. For one, Scouting is a standardized program. A Scout in one area should experience similar opportunities and training as a Scout in another area. Training will help you provide the expected program. Additionally, there are legal considerations. Certain paperwork must be in place to protect you legally as one taking responsibility for other's children and to provide insurance coverage in case things go wrong, and you need to be aware of what Scouts at each level can an cannot do.

Scouting is a wonderful program and you should feel confident in your abilities as a leader to provide a quality program, Seeking the proper training will enhance your ability to do so, with less stress and time committement on your part. The chart below can help guide you through the proper sequence of experiences to make you the most qualified leader you can be.
