![]() Pack Structure |
Your Pack is made up of all the levels of Cub Scouting, and is chartered by an organization such as a school or church. There will be a National registration fee and a Pack fee which helps with the expenses of Scouting. The Pack is most active during the school year. There might be a sign-up table for interested boys at your school's enrollment in the fall. Once active you will have a Pack meeting once a month, perhaps some special events, and maybe a few summertime activities. The Pack meetings are designed for fun, to allow the boys to see the activities of their friends, and for recognizing boys' advancements. Parents are expected to step in and help serve on a committee or two.... fundraisers, Pinewood Derby, Blue and Gold Banquet, etc. Camping is very limited at the Cub levels and is described in the paragraphs below. It should be noted that boys may join Scouting at any level and will not complete the requirements at the prior level.
At each level boys will recite the Cub Scout Oath and Motto, demonstrate the handshake and sign, and will have Den yells and songs. Proper uniforming is a requirement as it identifies the Scout as a member of their Den and Pack. You will notice a transition from parent-directed progress to Den Leader-directed progress as the boys advance, but parent participation is a must at all levels. Leaders in Scouting are all volunteers and have jobs and families and personal lives too... they need your participation and support. The Pack is led by the Pack Committee made up of the Committee Chairman, the Cubmaster, Den Leaders, Advancement Chairman, Treasurer, and at times other activity chairmen. |
