Dean Meier -- Troop Treasurer

Dean MeierFor 33 years Dean has worked for John Deere. Currently he works with the Ag Marketing Division in Lenexa, KS as a Project Training Manager.

“I did not have the opportunity to join Boy Scouts in the small Iowa town where I grew up, but was a Cub Scout. At that time, the highest Cub Scout rank possible was Bear...there wasn't such a thing as Webelos. My sons joined Cub Scouts and I was the Webelo den leader for Sean and Nathan. I now hold the position as Troop Treasurer...something I've enjoyed doing for the last three years.”

Dean enjoys spending time with his three sons, Sean, Ryan and Nathan who are all in the troop. His favorite Scouting memory is when he became an Honorary Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say during the 2006 summer camp. He was appointed 2007 summer camp scoutmaster...a great learning experience as well!

“I really enjoyed working as a Webelos den leader and saw what cub scouting did for my own sons and other boys within our den. Scouts learn about the outdoors, camping, cooking, and survival skills...something they would probably not learn anywhere else. Also, I see a difference as scouts mature and progress through the ranks. Scouting turns boys into fine young men and helps them become great citizens and leaders”.

“I would encourage any boy to join a Boy Scout troop. If they do and progress, it will be something they will remember the rest of their life. If a boy reaches "Eagle" status, the opportunities for his future and career years are endless. Scouting is also just plain fun!”
